Body lotion and sunscreen are important for maintaining beautiful skin, but if you don’t exfoliate, or slough off the dead cells on a regular basis, your skin can’t absorb all the benefits a lotion has to offer.

Our skin reproduces itself constantly and as a result, the dull dead cells shed slowly over time. It’s not necessary to wait, however. These dead skin cells clog the pores, they prevent lotions from being absorbed and that will leave your skin looking dry and dehydrated. For constantly beautiful glowing skin, you can help it along with an exfoliation regimen.

Sloughing off dead skin cells will keep it healthy and will also improve the effectiveness of sunscreen—and self-tanners. Here are some exfoliating tips for the entire body:

• Exfoliate the skin on your face gently with a product suited to your skin type.

• On your body, exfoliate in the shower for the best results. Leading edge formulations like Tone Sugar Glow for example, deliver the moisturizing properties of ultra-fine particles of sugar to slough off dead skin without being harsh or gritty. Similar to the treatments used at professional spas, this sugar based, liquid formula polishes in the shower to reveal brighter, moisturized, radiant skin.

• Use a body pouf with the exfoliate for best results.

• Pay attention to your neck. Brighter skin on your neck gives you a fresher look.

• Exfoliate your arms and legs, but pay special attention to your elbows and knees. Elbows can quickly get cracked and flaky without targeted care—and knees should look polished now that spring and summer are here.

• Exfoliate your feet, especially your heels.

• Do you complain about dry lips? Try exfoliating them too.
