Members of the Markham Lions Club are creating a roar at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Their $60,000 donation is being used to build new quiet rooms in the Intensive Care Unit and Palliative Care Unit. Patients can expect to enjoy the new areas by the end of March, 2006.

“We wanted to do something for the entire Markham community,” said Ken Harris, President of the Markham Lions Club. “Creating a comforting place for relaxation at a time when patients and their families feel a lot of stress falls right into the Lions’ mandate – to support our community’s needs.”

The Lions Club has a 21-year history of supporting Markham Stouffville Hospital, often contributing major gifts that help bridge the gap between government funding. Patients and staff alike are immensely grateful for the generosity of the Markham Lions.
