Iridology is a quick, accurate and painless system of analysis. Iridology is the examination of the coloured part of the eye known as the iris. By means of this art/science, an iridologist (one who studies the colouration and fibre structure of the eye) can tell an individual his/her inherited and acquired tendencies towards health and disease, his/her current condition and the state of every organ.
Iridology has existed since 400 BC when Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, opened a school in Salerno, Greece, dedicated to health and medicine. Iridology was also practised in ancient India, Egypt and China, where doctors and priests made health-related diagnosis based on the condition of the iris.
Iridology is based on the assumption that every organ in the human body has a corresponding location within the iris. According to this theory, a person’s state of health and disease can be diagnosed from the colour, texture and location of various pigment flecks in the eye. Iridology cannot detect a specific disease, but can tell an individual if they have over or under activity in specific areas of the body. (For example, an under-active pancreas might indicate a diabetic condition).
By studying the eye, Iridologists can reveal a patient’s overall state of health, as well as their tendencies toward inherited disease and possible future problems. The greatest feature and main advantage of iridology over forms of health screening is that changes appear in the iris before the physical symptom develops. Therefore, preventative action may be taken to improve health and avoid those diseases. Any internal deficiencies, toxic tissues and areas that appear to be strained or suffering from poor nutrition, are recorded and “imbalances” can be treated with vitamins, minerals, herbs and similar products.
Window on Health
Iridology charts are used by trained practitioners to aid in developing a picture of a patient’s overall state of health. Each colour, pattern, fibre and defect in the iris is thought to have a reflex correlation with a disease manifestation or organ system malfunction. The left eye is believed to correspond with the left side of the body and the right eye to the right side.
A typical iridology session lasts approximately one hour and begins with a detailed questionnaire or medical history. Input from the client is essential if the Iridologist is to do a proper analysis. The practitioner examines the iris using either a slit lamp (commonly used by optometrists) or with a simple penlight and magnifying glass. The practitioner then consults an eye chart to determine which internal organs correspond to potential problem spots. All information is registered and filed by the Iridologist and a written report detailing specific health concerns is given to the patient.
If you would like to discover more about the state of your inner health and optimize its healing power, then iridology is for you. Having an eye analysis allows you to know ‘where you are now’, so that you have a roadmap of where you want to go.
